About
Yoni Koren (1960-2023) was an Israeli military intelligence officer and political adviser who served as a senior aide and close confidant to former Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ehud Barak. Born on September 29, 1960, he rose through the ranks of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the reserves. Koren served as a senior officer in AMAN, the IDF's Military Intelligence Directorate, where he handled sensitive intelligence operations and defense policy coordination. He held the position of Bureau Chief at the Israeli Ministry of Defense during Barak's tenure as Defense Minister (2007-2009), managing critical defense and intelligence affairs. Koren's professional network extended beyond Israeli institutions, with reported employment or affiliations in Mossad, Israel's foreign intelligence service. However, his associations drew controversy due to ties with Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender and financier, including stays at Epstein's properties and financial connections, which have fueled speculation about hidden networks of influence involving Israeli and international figures. Koren passed away on January 8, 2023, after battling cancer, leaving a legacy marked by both national service and enigmatic international entanglements.
