About
Mossad, officially known as the Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations, is Israel's national intelligence agency and premier foreign intelligence service. It is one of the main entities in the Israeli Intelligence Community, alongside Aman (military intelligence) and Shin Bet (internal security). Mossad is responsible for foreign espionage, intelligence collection, covert operations, and counterterrorism activities outside of Israel's borders and worldwide. The agency's mission includes preventing attacks on Israeli and Jewish targets worldwide, collecting strategic intelligence, bringing Jews to Israel from hostile countries, and developing special diplomatic and other covert relations. Mossad operates globally and is known for its sophisticated intelligence-gathering capabilities and high-profile operations, such as the capture of Adolf Eichmann in 1960 and numerous counterterrorism missions, often collaborating with private sector tech firms, which has led to allegations of these firms providing Israeli intelligence with technical and logistical support.
