Yaakov Katz (Hebrew: יעקב כץ; born August 14, 1979) is an American-born Israeli journalist, author, publisher, media executive, and editor-in-chief of The Jerusalem Post. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, he immigrated to Israel in 1993 at age 14. Katz earned a law degree from Bar-Ilan University and was educated at Harvard University. He has had a distinguished career in Israeli journalism and government communications, including serving as Head of the IDF Spokesperson's Unit under Brigadier General Daniel Hagari, and is the author of four books focusing on the Israeli military. He has also worked as a university teacher. From 2016 to 2023, Katz served as Editor-in-Chief of The Jerusalem Post, where he supervised prominent journalists such as Caroline Glick and oversaw significant editorial changes. He stepped down from that role but continues to contribute a popular weekly column to the newspaper. Currently, Katz is a senior fellow at the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI), writing on topics including antisemitism, geopolitics, and Israel-Diaspora relations. His work emphasizes Israel's security and international standing.
