William Potter is a leading nonproliferation expert, trained as a Soviet specialist, who authored his first book on the technology, economics, and politics of nuclear nonproliferation. He developed a strong interest in the parallels between Soviet and U.S. nuclear export policies and approaches to nonproliferation. Potter has served as a consultant to the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the RAND Corporation, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He is also recognized as a writer in his field and currently serves as director of the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies.
