About
Tal Becker (born 1972) is an Australian-Israeli lawyer, diplomatic advisor, and civil servant widely recognized as an expert in international law. Originally from Australia, he immigrated to Israel in 1994 and quickly became involved in defending Israel's interests and peace negotiations. From the 1990s through 2005, Becker served as a legal advisor in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Israeli Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, where he acted as counsel from 2001-2005 and Vice-Chairman of the UN General Assembly's Legal Committee. He holds a doctorate from Columbia University and a master's degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Becker has worked as a senior policy advisor to Israel's Foreign Minister and as an international law expert for the IDF. Currently, he serves as Deputy Director General for Legal Affairs at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as Vice President at the Shalom Hartman Institute, leading educational initiatives on Israel and the Jewish world.
