About
Staci 'Stosh' Cotler (born 1968 in Olympia, Washington) is an American activist with over 30 years of experience as an organizer, trainer, and leader in social justice movements. Her early career included activism in Portland, Oregon, where she developed programs to train women in self-defense and empower local girls. She served as CEO of Bend the Arc, a progressive Jewish organization focused on advocacy, community organizing, and leadership training for racial justice, economic equity, criminal justice reform, immigration reform, and workers' rights, from 2015 to 2022. Prior to her CEO role, she held the position of executive vice president during her nearly 15 years with the organization, growing its reach to over 125,000 people nationwide. Known for her unconventional style—including tattoos and a black belt—Cotler continues her work in emerging fields, pursuing studies in biomimicry at Arizona State University and candidacy in the Biomimicry Professional (BPro) Program, the highest level of formal training in biomimicry, with applications in engineering, product design, and the built environment.
