About
Sarah Stern is an American pro-Israel political activist, commentator, and lobbyist, best known as the founder, president, and executive director of the Endowment for Middle East Truth (EMET), a Washington, D.C.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit advocacy organization and think tank established in 2005. EMET is focused on promoting pro-Israel policies through Capitol Hill lobbying, organizing events, hosting congressional briefings, publishing reports on Middle East issues, and supporting U.S. policies that strengthen Israel's security and regional stability. The organization actively counters perceived anti-Israel biases and narratives in media, academia, government, and international forums and has played a role in introducing pro-Israel legislation to congressional sponsors.
Under Stern’s leadership, EMET has awarded prominent figures such as former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley for their support of Israel. Stern has testified before congressional committees, including the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs, and frequently appears as a commentator on television programs like C-SPAN and Mark Levin’s show, as well as in print media including The Hill, articulating conservative viewpoints on foreign policy with particular emphasis on threats posed by Iran and Palestinian militancy to Israel’s existence.
Before founding EMET, Stern worked in public relations, policy advocacy, and Jewish community issues at the American Jewish Congress. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Juris Doctor from American University and its Washington College of Law. As a committed Zionist activist, she has been critical of individuals and organizations she views as undermining Israel’s interests, including J Street’s Jeremy Ben-Ami, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and Representative Ilhan Omar. Stern is affiliated with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations and serves on the boards of conservative funding organizations.
Stern’s career reflects a commitment to Zionist causes and strengthening U.S.-Israel relations through grassroots efforts, education, policy influence, and advocacy. While praised by pro-Israel groups, her work and EMET have sometimes drawn criticism for promoting hawkish policies viewed by some as impeding peace processes, and her advocacy has occasionally sparked debates about funding transparency and political influence in think tanks. There are no publicly documented major legal controversies or personal scandals involving Stern.
