It was launched as a partnership between the Herring family and The Washington Times. Known for its staunchly pro-Trump coverage and unwavering support of the 45th U.S. President, OANN positions itself as a right-wing alternative to mainstream media, emphasizing political, cultural, national security, nationalist, and populist issues from a conservative perspective. The network gained significant prominence during Donald Trump's presidency for airing controversial content avoided by other outlets.
