About
Omeed Malik is an American investor, hedge fund manager, entrepreneur, business executive, and political donor of mixed Iranian and Pakistani descent, and a conservative financier. Born in New Jersey to an Iranian mother and Pakistani father, he was educated at Emory University School of Law. Malik's career began in corporate law and institutional finance, rising to Managing Director and Global Head of the Hedge Fund Advisory Business at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he also founded and led the Emerging Manager Program. His tenure ended in 2018 amid allegations of inappropriate conduct, which he denied, leading to a $100 million defamation lawsuit against the bank that resulted in an undisclosed multi-million dollar settlement and a public retraction from the firm. Following his departure, Malik founded and serves as CEO of Farvahar Partners, a boutique merchant bank, and co-founded 1789 Capital in 2023 alongside Christopher Buskirk, a conservative venture capital firm focused on funding anti-ESG initiatives, conservative media, and companies catering to conservative consumers while avoiding progressive corporate mandates; Donald Trump Jr. joined the firm in 2024, underscoring its ties to conservative networks. Originally a donor to Democratic candidates including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, Malik shifted ideologically in the late 2010s to become a major financier for Republican causes, serving as a bundler and donor for Donald Trump's 2024 campaign, a significant supporter of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during his primary challenge and independent run, and a frequent contributor on Fox News and other conservative media discussing finance and 'woke' ideology. He has financial relationships including investments in figures like Jeremy Boreing and has extended his influence into media production, credited as a producer on projects such as 'The Cave Movie' (2009), 'The Story Won't Die' (2021), and the TV series 'Billions' (2016). His work emphasizes emerging managers and conservative-leaning investments, positioning him as a key player in influence networks within finance, politics, and the 'parallel economy' of conservative business ventures. He operates primarily from the United States, blending international heritage with American financial expertise.
