Michael Alan Weiner, professionally known as Michael Savage, is an American conservative radio host, author, political commentator, and activist. Born on March 31, 1942, in the Bronx, New York, Savage began his career in academia and writing, earning master's degrees in medical botany and medical anthropology from the University of Hawaii and a Ph.D. in nutritional ethnomedicine from the University of California, Berkeley. Under his birth name, he authored books on nutrition, herbal medicine, and homeopathy. Transitioning to media, he started his radio career on March 21, 1994, as a fill-in host on KGO in San Francisco, eventually becoming a weekend host before launching 'The Savage Nation,' a nationally syndicated talk show that became one of the most popular in the U.S., peaking with over 20 million listeners on 400 stations by 2009. The show aired until 2021, syndicated by networks like Talk Radio Network, Cumulus Media, and Westwood One. Savage is known for his nationalist views and commentary, particularly his critiques of Islam and immigration, as well as border security, and has appeared on platforms like Newsmax television. He has been married to Janet Weiner since 1967.
