About
ACT for America is a U.S.-based nonprofit advocacy organization founded in 2007 by Lebanese-American activist Brigitte Gabriel, emerging from the earlier American Congress for Truth established in 2002 following the 9/11 attacks. The organization operates with a dual structure: a 501(c)(4) political advocacy arm and a 501(c)(3) educational component focused on research, awareness, and non-partisan advocacy about national security threats from radical Islam and other radical ideologies. It focuses on countering what it describes as the threat of radical Islam, promoting national security, and opposing Sharia law through grassroots activism via local chapters across the United States. The group organizes events, petitions, lobbying campaigns, and legislative efforts on issues including immigration and terrorism, framing its mission as protecting American values from radical ideologies. ACT for America has been designated as an anti-Muslim hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) since 2014, with additional criticism from organizations like the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for promoting Islamophobia and spreading misinformation about Islam. Despite controversy, it maintains strong ties to conservative donors (including Donors Trust and the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation) and political figures, with Brigitte Gabriel remaining its central leader and public face.
