Louis Carl Dobbs (September 24, 1945 – July 18, 2024) was an American conservative political commentator, author, radio personality, news presenter, journalist, television host, and writer. He began his journalism career as a financial news reporter at Seattle's KING-TV and worked at radio and television stations in Arizona and Washington before joining CNN as chief economics correspondent under Ted Turner. Dobbs gained prominence as the anchor and managing editor of Moneyline (later rebranded as Lou Dobbs Tonight) on CNN from 1980 to 2009, where the program became one of the network's top-rated shows, attracting around 800,000 viewers nightly, second only to Larry King Live. He also served as an editorial columnist and anchored PrimeNews. After departing CNN in 2009, he briefly returned with Lou Dobbs Tonight from 2011 to 2021 on Fox Business Network and Newsmax. Dobbs continued his media presence with The Great America Show on iHeartRadio and loudobbs.com from 2021 until his death. A veteran television host known for his work across CNN, Fox Business, and Newsmax, Dobbs appeared on programs like those hosted by Michael Savage. He was twice married, first to Kathleen Ann Wheeler and later to Deborah Lee 'Debi' Segura, and was honored by the Horatio Alger Association.
