About
Lew Dickey is an American media executive and founder of Cumulus Media, where he served as President and CEO from 2000 to 2015. He began his career in radio as a nationally recognized programming consultant and launched a market research and strategy consulting business in 1985 after completing his education. Working with major television and radio groups nationwide, Dickey identified opportunities in mid-size markets, leading to the formation of Cumulus Media through strategic acquisitions, differentiating it from competitors like Clear Channel Communications, which focused on larger markets. Under his leadership, Cumulus grew into a major player in talk radio syndication, overseeing major syndications. Dickey holds a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in English Literature from Stanford University, followed by an MBA from Harvard Business School. He has received accolades including Executive of the Year from Radio Ink magazine and Broadcasting CEO of the Year from Institutional Investor magazine. Post-Cumulus, Dickey has served as Chairman of Modern Luxury Media and Akazoo SA, maintaining his influence in the media sector from his base in Atlanta, Georgia.
