About
Kevin Francis Herbert Maxwell (born 20 February 1959) is a British businessman, the eldest son of publishing tycoon Robert Maxwell and the brother of Ghislaine Maxwell. He joined his father's media empire in the early 1980s after graduating from Balliol College, Oxford, rising to senior operational roles. Following Robert Maxwell's death in 1991 and the subsequent collapse of the family business amid massive debts, Kevin and his brother Ian were charged in 1992 with 16 counts of conspiracy to defraud creditors and other financial crimes related to the family companies. They were acquitted by a jury in 1996 after a high-profile trial. Post-trial, Maxwell faced ongoing financial troubles, including being declared bankrupt twice (first in 1992 and again later) and a disqualification from acting as a company director until 2002. He has largely stayed out of the public eye since, with limited recent business activities documented.
