About
Rabbi Josh Broide was born in Cape Town, South Africa, in 1975 to a passionate Jewish family. In 1985, amid escalating apartheid pressures, his family emigrated to Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he was 10 years old, immersing himself in American culture including rock music icons like Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen. After high school, he spent a gap year in Israel, sparking deeper Jewish curiosity, before pursuing advanced religious and secular studies. Broide received Rabbinical Ordination and a Master’s in Advanced Talmudic Law from Ner Israel Rabbinical College in Baltimore, Maryland, while earning Master’s degrees in Special Education and School Administration and Supervision from Johns Hopkins University. He also completed the Kellogg Management Education for Jewish Leaders certificate at Northwestern University. Prior to 2000, he served as Head Counselor at Camp Mesorah in New York, Campus Rabbi at Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach, and Founding Director of the Jewish Student Union of South Florida, expanding Jewish engagement in public high schools. He served for 25 years as Outreach Rabbi at Boca Raton Synagogue and was Director of the Deborah & Larry D. Silver Center for Jewish Engagement. Broide founded the Boca Raton Jewish Experience around 2010, hosted Jewish Pride Radio, and co-produced Jewish Pride Films. A musician at heart, he plays drums and guitar. Married to Simone since approximately 1997, they have six children: Ayala, Avigayil, Eliana, Asher Yosef (AJ), Ahuva Leah, and Eytan. He made aliyah to Israel in 2025 and resides in Modi'in, serving as Vice President of the Silver Foundation and Global Director of Partners in Jewish Life.
