About
John Rendon is an American PR consultant and executive based in Washington, DC, who founded The Rendon Group, a public relations firm where he serves as President and CEO. He began his career in Democratic Party politics, starting with George McGovern's 1972 presidential campaign, and advanced to roles such as Executive Director and National Political Director for the Democratic National Committee, Director of Scheduling for President Jimmy Carter's administration, and analyst on the American political system for BBC World TV. Rendon pioneered the use of strategic communications as an element of national power and harnessed emerging technologies for real-time information management. His firm has engaged in high-profile perception management campaigns, including a contract hyping the need for the U.S. invasion of Panama in the late 1980s and being hired by the CIA in 1991 to create conditions for regime change in Iraq, which involved creating and managing the public relations operations of the Iraqi National Congress, a term he coined. Rendon's work has focused on media manipulation and propaganda efforts for government clients. Contact information associated with him includes jrendon@rendon.com.
