The Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA), formerly known as the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs until a rebranding in the early 2000s, is a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit 501(c)(3) think tank and advocacy organization founded in 1976, three years after the Yom Kippur War. JINSA focuses on U.S. defense and security issues, with a primary emphasis on strengthening American military capabilities and promoting robust national security policies, particularly in relation to the Middle East. It advocates for strong U.S.-Israel security cooperation, bipartisan support for Israel, and advancing military and intelligence ties, military aid, and joint defense strategies. While presenting itself as non-partisan, JINSA supports neoconservative foreign policy views and pro-Israel advocacy in U.S. foreign affairs. The institute seeks to educate Congressional, military, and civilian decision-makers, as well as the public and Jewish community, through policy research, educational programs, briefings, reports, events, advocacy efforts, and leadership trips to strengthen American security and foster ties with allies such as Israel. Operating in Washington to engage directly with government entities, policymakers, military leaders, and international partners, JINSA relies on donations and grants to support its activities.
