James Busch Orthwein (March 13, 1924 – August 15, 2008) was an American heir to the Anheuser-Busch fortune. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he began his professional career in advertising as an artist at D'Arcy Advertising Company in 1947, rising to become chairman and chief executive officer from 1970 to 1983. During this period, he transformed the St. Louis-based firm into an international organization known as D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles (DM&B) Worldwide, earning industry recognition and induction into the St. Louis Media History Foundation in 2010. Orthwein was also the former owner of the New England Patriots NFL franchise, during which he unsuccessfully attempted to relocate the team to St. Louis, leading to its sale in 1994. He passed away at his home in Huntleigh Village, Missouri, at the age of 84 after a lengthy illness.
