Isaac Hazony (1914-2009) was a Polish-born Israeli philosopher, librarian, and Holocaust survivor. Born in Poland, he endured the horrors of Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II. After the war, he immigrated to Mandatory Palestine in 1946, where he became a prominent figure in Israeli intellectual circles, influenced by thinkers like Martin Buber. Hazony worked for many years at the Jewish National and University Library in Jerusalem, contributing to Jewish philosophy and thought. He was the father of Yoram Hazony, a noted conservative philosopher and president of the Herzl Institute. Isaac's experiences as a survivor shaped his worldview, and he was known for his deep engagement with Jewish intellectual traditions. He passed away in 2009, leaving a legacy in Israeli academia and philosophy.
