About
The International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) is a prominent global Christian Zionist organization based in Jerusalem. Founded in 1980 by evangelical Christians worldwide in response to Israel's controversial annexation of East Jerusalem and subsequent withdrawal of many national embassies from the city, the ICEJ was established to demonstrate solidarity with Israel after the Knesset declared Jerusalem Israel's undivided capital. Operating as a non-diplomatic "embassy," it represents global Christian support for Israel and Jewish communities worldwide. The organization's mission is rooted in theological beliefs concerning Israel's divine role in end-times prophecy and biblical prophecies related to Israel's restoration and Jerusalem's significance. The ICEJ supports Israel and the Jewish people through advocacy, humanitarian aid, education, prayer initiatives, media outreach, conferences, legal aid programs, and disaster relief efforts. It organizes public events, including the annual Feast of Tabernacles celebration in Jerusalem, which draws thousands of international participants. The organization provides aid to Holocaust survivors, new immigrants to Israel, and victims of conflict while lobbying for pro-Israel policies in Western governments. With branches in multiple countries, including the United States (ICEJ USA), the ICEJ has developed into a global network with offices in Jerusalem and beyond. It is affiliated with influential Christian Zionist figures such as John Hagee and hosts high-profile events attended by Israeli leaders and international dignitaries. While praised for its contributions to Israeli society and fostering Christian-Jewish relations, the ICEJ has faced criticism for its political advocacy and interpretations of biblical eschatology that closely align with Israeli government positions.
