About
Hadassah Medical Center is a major Israeli teaching hospital and medical organization affiliated with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. It operates two university hospitals in Jerusalem—one at Ein Karem (a community hospital) and one at Mount Scopus—as well as professional schools of medicine, dentistry, nursing, and pharmacology. Founded by Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America, it pioneered healthcare standards and practices in Israel, maintains deep roots in Jerusalem, and serves patients from diverse backgrounds. Its mission is to extend medical care to all, without regard for race, religion, or ethnic origin. The center engages in medical research and innovation, including gene therapy at the Goldyne Savad Institute, and global health initiatives through affiliates like Hadassah International (established in 1983). It is supported by donors worldwide, including Hadassah USA, providing financial backing for care, research, and operations that serve over a million patients annually regardless of religion, race, or nationality.
