About
Elisha Nelson 'Eli' Manning, born on January 3, 1981, in New Orleans, Louisiana, is a former New York Giants quarterback from a prominent football family as the youngest son of NFL quarterback Archie Manning and younger brother to Cooper and Peyton Manning. He attended Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, where he was a three-time All-State football selection from 1996 to 1998 and also played basketball. Manning played college football for the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) Rebels, setting numerous passing records, winning the Maxwell Award and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award as a senior in 2003, and leading the team to a Cotton Bowl victory on January 2, 2004. Selected first overall by the San Diego Chargers in the 2004 NFL Draft, he was traded to the New York Giants on draft day after refusing to play for the Chargers. He played his entire 16-season NFL career with the Giants from 2004 to 2019, achieving iconic status for upsetting the undefeated New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII (2008) and defeating them again in Super Bowl XLVI (2012), earning Super Bowl MVP honors both times. Retiring in January 2020, Manning has since transitioned into media, co-hosting the 'Manningcast' alternate broadcast of Monday Night Football alongside Peyton Manning since 2021.
