Eli Azur, born on August 28, 1958, is an Israeli businessman and media mogul. He began his professional career in journalism as a sportswriter for the Israeli daily newspaper Hadashot, which launched in 1989. Transitioning from media into business, he became the head of Mirkaei Tikshoret, a Tel Aviv-based media company that owns several prominent outlets, including Maariv, a Hebrew-language newspaper. He is the owner of the Jerusalem Post Group and has owned The Jerusalem Post since 2004. Under Azur's ownership, The Jerusalem Post has faced criticism for internal turmoil, including the departure of top editors and allegations of blurred lines between journalism and advertising, with reports suggesting efforts to appoint figures who present a favorable public image while potentially compromising editorial independence.
