About
Edward Little, a 22-year-old British resident of Chevening Road, Willesden Green, north-west London, converted to Islam in October 2021 and rapidly became radicalized through online exposure to Islamist extremist material. Shortly after, he began planning a terrorist attack, researching how to acquire firearms including 'ghost guns' and silencers, with the primary intent to assassinate Hatun Tash during her regular Sunday appearances at Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park due to her criticism of Islam. His target list also included other figures like Tommy Robinson. Little was arrested in January 2023 following intelligence-led police operations. He pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to one count of engaging in the preparation of an act of terrorism under the Terrorism Act 2006. On October 20, 2023, Mr Justice Marks sentenced him to five years and four months in prison, noting the gravity of the plot despite Little's lack of prior convictions and his claims of personal turmoil, including mental health issues and a troubled family background involving his mother's suicide.
