Baron David René James de Rothschild, born on December 15, 1942, in New York City, United States, is a prominent French investment banker and a member of the French branch of the Rothschild banking family. Holding dual French and United States nationality, he was educated at the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), graduating in 1966. He began his career at Société Minière et Métallurgique de Peñarroya, a family-owned mining company in Paris. De Rothschild advanced through various roles in finance, eventually becoming supervisory board chairman of Rothschild & Co in 2018 and chairman of Rothschild Continuation Holdings, a Swiss holding company. He served as mayor of Pont-l'Évêque in Calvados, France, from 1977 to 1995. A Jewish philanthropist, de Rothschild has held leadership and executive positions and served as a major donor to the World Jewish Congress. He is married to Olimpia Aldobrandini and has four children.
