About
Danny Danon (born May 8, 1971) is an Israeli politician and diplomat affiliated with the right-wing Likud party. He has served as Israel's Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 2015 to 2020 and again from 2024, and is known for his hawkish, staunch defense of Israeli policies at the UN and in international forums. Domestically, he was a member of the Knesset from 2009 to 2015 and again from 2022 to 2024. Within Likud, he has challenged Benjamin Netanyahu for party leadership (2007, 2014) and is sometimes described as a 'right-wing thorn in Netanyahu's side.' Earlier, he led the world Betar organization (a Zionist youth movement) and was elected Chairman of the World Likud, expanding his influence in global Jewish and pro-Israel networks. His advocacy has drawn both praise from supporters and controversy from critics.
