Daniel J. Sokatch (born April 15, 1968) is an American activist and the President and CEO of the New Israel Fund (NIF) since 2009. NIF is an open society foundation that supports human rights, democracy, and social justice organizations in Israel and the Palestinian territories. Sokatch leads NIF's efforts to promote progressive causes in the region, drawing on his legal and international affairs background. He has been recognized multiple times in The Jewish Daily Forward's 'Forward 50' list of influential Jewish decision-makers, activists, and opinion-shapers. He has a financial relationship with Lynn Schusterman as a major donor to NIF. His writing has appeared in major outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times, and he co-authored a book published by Bloomsbury in 2021. Sokatch earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandeis University, focusing on history, Near Eastern Studies, and Judaic Studies. During his junior year, he studied abroad in Ireland, examining the Irish conflict. After graduating around 1990, he worked in social services in Boston from 1990 to 1994. He later obtained an MA from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and a JD from Boston College Law School. He maintains a professional presence on LinkedIn as CEO of NIF.
