About
Brian Katulis is a prominent American foreign policy strategist and national security expert with over two decades of experience, focusing on the Middle East, North Africa, counterterrorism, and U.S. national security strategy. He currently serves as a Senior Fellow and Vice President of Policy at the Middle East Institute (MEI), where he is a leading voice on regional dynamics, with his role confirmed as of April 2024. Previously, he was a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress (CAP), instrumental in building its Middle East program. His government experience includes service at the National Security Council and the U.S. Departments of State and Defense during the Clinton administration. Katulis frequently provides expert testimony to congressional committees, including the Senate Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committees, and has lived and worked in regional hubs such as Egypt, Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian territories. He is a co-author of 'The Prosperity Agenda' (2008), which examines leveraging American economic advantages for global stability, and serves as a Senior Advisor at DGA-Albright Stonebridge Group. His professional network includes collaborations with Michael Rubin and Nancy Soderberg, as well as an appointment linked to Bill Clinton. However, Katulis faces ongoing legal scrutiny, including a pending 2021 conflict of interest allegation, a Department of Justice action, and questions about potential foreign influence due to his consulting work for the United Arab Emirates.
