About
William Jefferson 'Bill' Clinton (born August 19, 1946) is an American politician who served as the 42nd president of the United States from 1993 to 2001, having previously served as Governor of Arkansas. A prominent and influential Democratic figure and global statesman, he is known for his centrist 'New Democrat' or 'Third Way' policies and for presiding over a period of economic prosperity. His presidency included active involvement in Middle East peace initiatives, such as the Oslo Accords, along with other foreign interventions and global engagements, and strong support for Israel; he signed the Iraq Liberation Act into law despite initial reservations about its implications for U.S. foreign policy. His tenure was also marked by numerous scandals, including impeachment over the Monica Lewinsky affair, and his administration faced intense scrutiny from Scaife-funded efforts and conservative litigators. He has been identified as a friend and social acquaintance of Jeffrey Epstein, associated with him through flights on his private jet—including multiple trips to Africa and other destinations—and social events; he appears in Epstein flight logs on trips that included the former president. Piloted flights with Clinton aboard occurred in the early 2000s, and he was photographed receiving a massage during a 2002 trip to Africa on Epstein's jet. Ghislaine Maxwell, a close associate of Epstein, offered to testify to Clinton's 'innocence' for clemency. A Yale Law School classmate of Lani Guinier, he has remained influential in global politics, philanthropy, and international business since leaving office through the Clinton Foundation. He is also an acquaintance who attended Chelsea Clinton's wedding. During his administration, he served in the National Security Council, appointed the 71st Secretary of the Treasury, and appointed Patrick as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, who was nominated and confirmed to that position.
