Sayyid Asa'ad bin Tariq Al Said, born on June 1, 1954, is a senior member of Oman's ruling Al Said royal family and the brother of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, who became Sultan in January 2020 after the death of their cousin, Sultan Qaboos bin Said. As part of the family descended from Sultan Taimur bin Faisal, he has been involved in Omani governance and state affairs for decades, contributing to the country's political stability and economic development. In August 2020, Sultan Haitham appointed him as Deputy Prime Minister for Financial and Economic Affairs, a critical position overseeing Oman's economic policies, fiscal planning, and international financial cooperation. This role highlights his expertise in economic diversification, aligning with Oman's Vision 2040 to reduce oil dependency through investments in tourism, logistics, and renewable energy.
