Alon Chen (Hebrew: אלון חן; born 1970) is an Israeli neuroscientist and the 11th President of the Weizmann Institute of Science since 2020. He earned a BSc in life sciences (magna cum laude) from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in 1995, an MBA from the same university in 2001, and a PhD in Neurobiology from the Weizmann Institute of Science in 2001. Previously, Chen served as Director and Scientific Member at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich, Germany, while also heading the Department of Neurobiology at the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot, Israel. He is institutionally affiliated with Sami Sagol. Chen's research focuses on neuroscience, contributing significantly to the field as a prominent researcher. As President of the Weizmann Institute, one of Israel's leading scientific research centers, he oversees operations in Rehovot.
