About
Aimee Harris is a Florida resident best known for her role as an intermediary in the 2020 theft and sale of Ashley Biden's personal diary. Harris, who was living in a Delray Beach, Florida home previously occupied by Ashley Biden, discovered the diary along with other personal items. Motivated by financial desperation as a single mother, she contacted her then-boyfriend Robert Kurlander, and together they conspired to steal and sell it for political gain. They reached out to the conservative activist group Project Veritas, with Harris locating and delivering the diary. The diary was sold for $40,000, with Harris receiving $20,000, intending to transport it across state lines for political exploitation during the 2020 U.S. presidential election. The FBI intercepted the transaction, preventing the diary's publication, though excerpts later appeared in conservative media. Project Veritas attempted to shop the diary to the Trump campaign, though the transaction ultimately fell through.
In August 2022, Harris pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiracy to transport stolen property interstate. During sentencing on April 9, 2024, in the Southern District of Florida, she expressed remorse, citing her impoverished background and struggles raising her young daughter as factors in her decisions. U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon sentenced her to one month in prison, three months of home detention, two years of supervised probation, 100 hours of community service, and $20,000 in restitution to the government. Her co-conspirator Kurlander received a similar sentence. The case drew significant media attention, highlighting issues of privacy invasion, political dirty tricks, and the weaponization of personal information in partisan politics, with critics condemning Project Veritas's involvement.
Beyond this scandal, little is publicly documented about Harris's life. She has described herself in court as coming from a poor family in the coastal South, with limited education and employment history, primarily in low-wage jobs. No prior criminal record is known. The incident has portrayed her as a peripheral figure in conservative activism networks, connected through Project Veritas and associates like Robert Kurlander. Post-sentencing, Harris has maintained a low profile, with no further public legal or professional activities documented.
