Adebayo 'Bayo' O. Ogunlesi is a prominent Nigerian-American lawyer, investment banker, and business executive. Born on December 20, 1953, in Nigeria, he attended King's College in Lagos for his secondary education before earning a B.A. with first-class honors in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford in the 1970s, followed by a joint JD-MBA from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School in 1979. Early in his career, he served as a law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall before joining Credit Suisse, where he spent 23 years rising to become Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Client Officer of its Investment Banking Division. In 2006, Ogunlesi founded Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a leading independent infrastructure investment firm, where he serves as Chairman, Managing Partner, and CEO. Under his leadership, GIP has managed billions in assets, focusing on global infrastructure projects in energy, transportation, and digital sectors. His influence extends to major financial institutions, including his appointment to the board of directors of Goldman Sachs in 2023.
