Abby Joseph Cohen, born January 1, 1952, is an American economist and financial analyst renowned for her Wall Street career. She began her professional journey in 1973 as an economist at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C., serving until 1977, followed by roles as an economist and quantitative research director at T. Rowe Price Associates. From 1983 to 1988, she served as vice president in charge of investment strategy at another firm before joining Goldman Sachs in 1990, where she became a partner in 1998, served as chief U.S. investment strategist, and retired at the end of 2021. Currently, she is an advisory director at Goldman Sachs and a Professor of Business at Columbia Business School. She is also a board member of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP). Her expertise earned her numerous accolades, including being named one of Fortune Magazine's most powerful women in business in 1999, the second most powerful woman in finance by American Banker Magazine, one of the 30 most powerful women in America by Ladies' Home Journal, and annual inclusion in Barron's 100 most influential women in finance since its inception.
