About
Joseph Yagur (Hebrew: יוסי יגור, known as Yossi) was a science consul at the Israeli Consulate in New York and a LAKAM officer who served as Jonathan Pollard's handler alongside Rafi Eitan. He met Pollard in Paris in November 1984 alongside Aviem Sella and Rafi Eitan, provided Pollard with a fake Israeli passport under the alias 'Danny Cohen' in fall 1985, and was named as a co-conspirator in U.S. charges against Pollard but not prosecuted due to diplomatic status. After Pollard's arrest on November 18, 1985, Pollard's attempt to contact Yagur resulted in a disconnected phone number. Yagur also handled U.S. Army engineer Ben-Ami Kadish, who provided him with classified documents on U.S. nuclear weapons, F-15 fighter jets, Patriot missile defense systems, and other military matters from approximately 1980 to 1985; Yagur photographed the documents in the basement of Kadish's home at the Picatinny Arsenal area in New Jersey. Kadish pleaded guilty in 2008 to acting as an unregistered agent of Israel and was fined $50,000 but spared prison time. Yagur retired and was living in Tel Aviv as of 2008.
