About
Yitzchok Friedlander, also known as Isaac Friedlander, is a Brooklyn-based real estate investor and property manager in the Orthodox Jewish community, who was a central figure and co-conspirator in the international money laundering and public corruption sting known as Operation Bid Rig. Operating from both Brooklyn, New York, and Union City, New Jersey, Friedlander served as a business partner to Moshe Altman, a major real estate developer. Together, they facilitated the movement of illicit funds through purported charitable organizations, specifically religious 'gemachs' (interest-free loan funds) such as Gmach Shefa Chaim and Boyoner Gemilas Chesed, to bypass federal banking regulations. Friedlander managed the physical logistics of moving cash sourced from these funds and maintained offices and records at his residence. His involvement was documented by the FBI through a cooperating witness, Solomon Dwek, who posed as a developer and owner of a counterfeit goods business. Friedlander was recorded accepting checks represented as proceeds from bank fraud and counterfeit handbag trafficking, returning the 'cleaned' funds in cash bags after laundering them. He collaborated with an individual named Haber on the specific logistics of moving money into the Gmach Shefa Chaim accounts to fund the Union City political bribes. In April 2010, Friedlander pleaded guilty to conspiracy to launder money, admitting to laundering approximately $175,000 intended for corrupt payments to public officials in exchange for real estate development approvals in Union City. These activities, which also involved patterns in cash-heavy enterprises potentially used for laundering proceeds from various sources, appear confined to New York and New Jersey, tied to resolved legal matters as referenced in public records, news reports, court documents, and DOJ announcements. No verified information exists on his early life, formal education, career trajectory beyond real estate, professional positions outside of property management, personal relationships, family details, international ties, or broader influence networks.
