William 'Bill' Belzberg (1932-2014) was a prominent Canadian investor, real estate developer, and philanthropist, best known for his role in the Belzberg family's business ventures and their contributions to Jewish charitable causes. Born in Calgary, Alberta, he was the brother of Hyman (Hy) Belzberg (1925-2017) and Samuel (Sam) Belzberg, and also had a brother named Marc Belzberg. The Belzberg brothers built a significant business empire starting in the mid-20th century. In 1962, Samuel founded City Savings and Trust in Edmonton, focusing on real estate development financing. By 1968, the brothers had relocated to Vancouver and established Western Realty, expanding into property development across Canada and internationally. Belzberg's career centered on real estate, where he developed shopping centers in Canada and London, England, contributing to the family's reputation in corporate takeovers and investments. He was recognized as a noteworthy financial company executive by Marquis Who's Who. Beyond business, Belzberg was actively involved in philanthropy, particularly Jewish charitable work, reflecting the family's strong ties to their religious and cultural heritage. He later resided in Beverly Hills, California, where he passed away on April 30, 2014, at the age of 81.
