The University of South Carolina School of Law, renamed the Joseph F. Rice School of Law in honor of donor Joseph F. Rice, is the law school of the University of South Carolina, located in Columbia, South Carolina. It is the only public and non-profit law school in South Carolina and one of the oldest law schools in the United States, having been accredited by the American Bar Association since January 1, 1925, and a member of the Association of American Law Schools since January 1, 1924. The school has produced numerous prominent legal and political figures. Its first-year class averages approximately 200 students from 29 states, with 55% South Carolina residents, 20% minority students, 53% female, and 47% male. The 25th-75th percentile LSAT scores range from 160-164, and undergraduate GPAs range from 3.43-3.86. It features the first voluntary Pro Bono Program in a U.S. law school and the Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough Center on Professionalism.
