alumni
Condoleezza Rice earned both her undergraduate degree (BA in political science, cum laude, 1974, at age 19) and her doctorate (PhD in international studies, 1981) from the University of Denver. The university was the crucible of her intellectual transformation: she entered as a music student and encountered Josef Korbel's international politics course, which redirected her entire career. The university's Graduate School of International Studies — founded by Korbel — is now named the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. Rice and Madeleine Albright have appeared together at Denver events honoring their shared connection to Korbel and the university.
