About
Tzila Netanyahu (née Segal; August 28, 1912 – January 31, 2000) was the mother of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as his brothers Yonatan (1946–1976) and Iddo. Born into a family that included siblings Azriel Zelig Halevy Segal, Sypora Florence Ronn, Manuel Segal, and Batya Blanche Mazel, she married historian Benzion Netanyahu (originally Mileikowsky) in 1944 after meeting him during his studies in Palestine. The family resided in various locations including Jaffa, Tel Aviv, Safed, and Jerusalem, and later spent time in the United States, where Tzila supported the family financially. Her life was closely tied to her husband's academic and Zionist activities, though little is publicly documented about her personal career or achievements. As the matriarch of the Netanyahu family, she played a supportive role during the formative years of her sons, including Benjamin's early influences shaped by his parents' devotion to Israel's history and security. She passed away in 2000 at the age of 87.
