About
Sundus Shaker Saleh is an Iraqi teacher, artist, and refugee. Prior to the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, she lived there as a single mother. The invasion and subsequent violence resulted in the destruction of her home and property, compelling her to flee with her children to Amman, Jordan, where she has resided since. In March 2013, she filed Saleh v. Bush as the lead plaintiff in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, represented by attorney Inder Comar of Comar Law. The class action lawsuit accused former President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of State Colin Powell, CIA Director George Tenet, and Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz of conspiring to launch an illegal war of aggression against Iraq, constituting a crime against humanity and peace. The case was ultimately dismissed in 2017 on political question doctrine grounds.
