About
Steven Ernest 'Steve' Sailer (born December 20, 1958) is an American writer, blogger, journalist, and columnist known for his writings on race, immigration, intelligence, and human biodiversity. He popularized the concept of 'human biodiversity' in the 1990s as a framework for analyzing human differences, and his work has been described as prefiguring elements of Trumpism. Sailer contributes regularly to paleoconservative outlets like VDARE, Taki's Magazine, and The American Conservative, where he also serves as a movie critic. Earlier in his career, his articles appeared in mainstream conservative publications such as National Review and UPI. His analyses blend statistics, evolutionary psychology, and cultural commentary, influencing paleoconservative and alt-right networks. Sailer grew up in Studio City, Los Angeles, California, earned a BA from Rice University (1980) and an MBA from UCLA (1982), worked in marketing research before a health crisis prompted him to leave corporate life and dedicate himself to writing. He emerged as a key online figure in the late 1990s, launching his iSteve blog which became a platform for his contrarian views on social issues. His work has drawn widespread criticism for promoting what critics describe as pseudoscientific and discriminatory ideas, and he has faced allegations of fueling white nationalist ideologies, though he remains active in media commenting on politics, demographics, and culture from a data-driven, hereditarian standpoint.
