Malcolm Stevenson Forbes Jr., known professionally as Steve Forbes (born July 18, 1947, in Morristown, New Jersey), is an American publisher, businessman, journalist, and politician. A member of the prominent Forbes publishing family, he is the son of longtime Forbes publisher Malcolm Forbes and grandson of the magazine's founder B.C. Forbes. He attended Princeton University, where he earned an A.B. in Economics in 1970 and founded Business Today, now the largest student-run magazine in the world. He joined the family business, rising to become president and CEO of Forbes Inc. in the 1980s and 1990s, and changed his legal name to Steve Forbes in 1996 after his father's passing. He has served as chairman and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media since the 1990s following his father's death in 1990. He was appointed president of the Board of International Broadcasting by President Ronald Reagan. Forbes entered politics as a Republican, seeking the party's presidential nomination in 1996 and 2000, advocating for a flat tax. He continues to influence policy discussions through his role at Forbes Media, hosting the webcast 'What's Ahead,' authoring books like 'Flat Tax Revolution' and 'Inflation,' and maintaining an active presence on social media, including X/Twitter (@SteveForbesCEO), Facebook, and LinkedIn. He is married to Sabina Beekman since June 19, 1971, and resides in the New York area. He also serves as an adviser at the Forbes School of Business & Technology.
