About
Shlomo Ben-Dov is a prominent Israeli philosopher, author, and educator, serving as the intellectual mentor to the Manhigut Yehudit (Jewish Leadership) movement within Religious Zionism. His teachings emphasize 'Authentic Jewish Leadership' and the restoration of a Jewish state grounded in theocratic and nationalistic values, drawing from Halacha (Jewish Law), the philosophy of Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook, and the concept of the 'Hebrew' soul. He has authored numerous essays and treatises on the 'Identity of the State' and delivered lectures in private and public seminars. As a key ideologue, Ben-Dov mentored Moshe Feiglin, shaping the philosophical foundations of Feiglin's political career and the Zo Artzeinu protests in the 1990s. Operating as a 'grey eminence' in Israel's hard-right politics, he advocated for civil disobedience during the Oslo Accords and opposed the 2005 Gaza Disengagement, asserting that the land of Israel belongs to the Jewish people by divine decree. He has stated: 'The crisis of the State of Israel is not a security crisis or an economic crisis; it is a crisis of identity. We have forgotten who we are and why we are here.'
