About
Shaul Chorev is a retired Israeli Navy Rear Admiral with a distinguished career, including commanding a landing ship, missile boats, and submarines; serving as commander of the Haifa Naval Base and Commanding Officer of an Israeli Naval Flotilla; and acting as project manager for the Dolphin Submarines Project at German shipyards HDW and TNSW from 1989 to 1992. He was former Deputy Chief of the Israeli Navy, headed the Defense Ministry's Special Means Branch, and later served as head of the Israel Atomic Energy Commission, focusing on deterrence and technology. After retiring, he transitioned to academia as a professor at the University of Haifa's School of Political Science, where he heads the Research Center for Maritime Strategy. He is affiliated with the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and has authored articles for outlets including the Jerusalem Post, National Review, and The National Interest. His research interests include maritime strategy and emergency readiness. Chorev holds a BA in Economics and Political Sciences from Bar-Ilan University (1985) and an MSc from the United States Naval Postgraduate School (1989).
