About
Robin Pickering Arkley II, commonly known as Rob Arkley, is an American businessman, real estate investor, former attorney, and major conservative political donor based in Eureka, California. He is the founder, owner, president, and CEO of Security National Master Holding Company, LLC (and its affiliate Security National Servicing Corporation), a company specializing in real estate acquisition, management, and servicing with operations including 220 employees in Eureka and plans for 1,400 housing units. Arkley began his career as a tax accountant at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell in Los Angeles and Arthur Andersen in Chicago. After earning his law degree, he worked at the Washington, D.C. firm Dickstein, Shapiro & Morrin specializing in taxation, then founded his own firm Dun & Arkley in Eureka in 1983, leaving law in 1987 to focus on real estate full-time. He was admitted to the California Bar on 1982-12-27 and resigned in 2007 with no charges pending. Arkley has been active in local Eureka politics, criticizing city efforts for affordable housing, funding opposition ballot measures (nearly $400,000 in one year), threatening to relocate his company, and suing the city multiple times. Arkley is a significant donor to conservative causes, particularly through networks linked to Leonard Leo, co-chair of the Federalist Society's board. In 2008, his Alaskan fishing lodge hosted a trip including Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito and hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer, arranged partly by Leo; Alito did not disclose it. This drew Senate Judiciary Committee scrutiny in 2023 over Supreme Court ethics, with Chairman Dick Durbin seeking information from Arkley, who cooperated, averting a subpoena. He has residences and business addresses in Eureka, CA (e.g., 323 Fifth Street, 2339 D St), Baton Rouge, LA (13702 Coursey Blvd), and other locations. Born to Robin Pickering Arkley (1925-06-28 Vancouver, BC - 2008-08-25) and Lois Matthews (d. 1999), with whom his father raised three children in Arcata/Eureka after migrating from Canada through Washington and Oregon. Arkley's siblings include Ann Arkley Tidwell (Houston, TX) and John Arkley (Palmer, AK). He is married to Cherie Arkley, with daughters Allison and Elizabeth.
