Robert Goot is a distinguished Australian-Jewish barrister and philanthropist, practicing at the New South Wales Bar where he was appointed Senior Counsel in 2000. In 1988, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to the Australian Jewish community, and in January 2020, he received further decoration for contributions to Jewish and social welfare bodies. Goot has held key leadership positions in Australian Jewish organizations, notably as Deputy President of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ), whose presidency alternates between New South Wales and Victoria. Internationally, he serves in prominent roles within global Jewish institutions, including as Co-chairman of the Policy Council of the World Jewish Congress, and has been invited to the Ad Hoc Committee on Education Allocation Priorities of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany Inc.
