About
Richard 'Richie' Pearlstone, born in 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland, is a third-generation real estate developer and American philanthropist. He founded, chairs, and serves as CEO of The Pearlstone Group, a real estate and financial services firm based in Baltimore. Descended from a storied philanthropic family—great-grandfather Joseph Meyerhoff supported pre-state Israel and the arts; grandfather Jack Pearlstone and parents Jack and Peggy continued this legacy—Pearlstone began his charitable work in his twenties. He rose to national chairman and president of the United Jewish Appeal, leading the 1990s Exodus campaign that resettled nearly one million Soviet Jews in Israel. He joined the Jewish Agency for Israel's Board of Governors in 1993, chaired its Budget and Finance Committee, led its reconstitution in the 2000s, served as former Chairman of the Board of Governors, and received the Max M. Fisher Award in 2025. Pearlstone earned a B.S. from Boston University after attending The Park School of Baltimore, where he excelled in soccer and lacrosse. Married to Amy Elias since 2011, they share a blended family of three children and two grandchildren. Major supporters of Baltimore's cultural institutions—including the Museum of Art, Center Stage (Pearlstone Theater), Symphony Orchestra, and School for the Arts—they were inducted into the Baltimore Sun Hall of Fame in 2024. Pearlstone founded the Pearlstone Retreat Center in Reisterstown, Maryland, to promote Jewish experiential learning and agriculture. He serves on boards of the Institute for Jewish and Community Research and CLAL, and splits time between Roland Park in Baltimore, Scottsdale, Arizona, and Forte dei Marmi, Italy.
