About
The Rabbinical Council of America (RCA), founded in 1923 as the Rabbinical Council of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, is the largest association of Modern Orthodox rabbis in North America. Affiliated with the Orthodox Union (OU), it is a professional organization with close to 1,000 members across 14 countries as of 2010. The RCA publishes 'Tradition: A Journal of Orthodox Jewish Thought' (since 1958) and 'HaDarom' (since 1957), and maintains the Geirus Policies and Standards (GPS) committee since 2007 for standardized conversions. Members serve in synagogues, schools, chaplaincies, and community roles, and the organization self-describes as the leading Orthodox rabbinical body providing halachic guidance, rabbinic training, and professional support.
