About
Rabbi Moshe Meiselman, also known as Rabbi Dr. Moshe Meiselman, is the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Toras Moshe, a small American-style yeshiva in Jerusalem, and a leading talmudic scholar in the Modern Orthodox world. He earned a PhD in mathematics from MIT in 1967, studying under Dr. Donald Anderson with a thesis titled 'The Operation Ring for Connective K-Theory.' Prior to his current position, he served as principal of Yeshiva University High Schools of Los Angeles. He is the author of the book 'Jewish Women in Jewish Law,' which explores halachic perspectives on women's roles. Meiselman describes himself as an 'American boy who grew up in Europe,' reflecting his transatlantic upbringing. He spent his formative years studying under his uncle, Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik (known as Rav Yoshe Ber), imbibing the Brisker analytical approach to Talmud while understanding the American mindset. This background informs his leadership at Yeshivas Toras Moshe, where he has notably encouraged student participation in community initiatives like blood drives for soldiers.
